Cliches of the film industry.

For years the film industry has been putting out the same boring burned out movies that we didn’t even realise, were regurgitated ideas jumping from studio to studio. Cliché’s in the film industry have been around for quite some time. These clichés can be found in popular comedy, horror, romantic, or drama movies. These are almost always predictable stories, that make the entire cinematic universe played out.   A classic cliché has to be a boy and a girl bumping into each other with books in hand, usually at a university or crowded New York city street instantaneously falling in love. I know right, shoot me dead now. This concept has been pushed so hard that it became the fairy-tale way of falling in love. If you haven't  met the love of your life in this way does it matter? is the love authentic?. This scene had young girls walking around with books in hopes of finding the love of their lives. The chances of you meeting someone by bumping into them, while you both try and p...

Positive body image ( The demon that lurks within).

Image
How many of us can truly say we absolutely love our bodies, from every wrinkle to the stretchmark that we try so hard to cover up. "You should just love yourself it’s not that difficult" they say, but what does it really take to look at yourself in a positive light. Growing up in a world obsessed with perfection that’s fuelled by social media, it seems like the possibility of positive body image unattainable. With every swipe you are reminded of your own imperfections, and insecurities that you had no choice in deciding to have. I’m sure if we where allowed to choose our own physical attributes, we’d all opt to be the Beyoncé’s and David Beckhams of the world. But in all honesty, they too have things that they are insecure about and they shouldn’t be so glorified for the way they look. With social media perfection being shoved down our throats, it’s easy to get carried away, and get insecure with the way you look. It’s a constant battle against yourself, nit-picking at ever...

Adam silvera my favourite young adult author.

Image
Young adult literature has to be my favorite genre of books. The relatability of reading books young people navigating the struggles of life, be it depression, suicide, self love, career, family etc is very Fulfilling. Authors that are able to create characters that are completely fictional, which people can relate to are therapists  in their own right that use literature to heal readers. Seeing yourself in a character, reading their journey, cheering them on and wholeheartedly wanting them to make it out alive are emotions that are indescribable.  My favourite young adult author is Adam silvera a young lgbtq member, writing novels that are set in alternate realities but also have elements of truth, and Adam's own struggles in them. Adam's books are centred around young LGBTQ individuals navigating through the heartbreaks of life, yet its story lines have a sort of other worldly unimaginable feel to them. Be it “more happy than not’’ the story of Aaron soto a sixteen-year-old ...

Don't be dumb, we have the internet.

In this day and age there is really no excuse to be miss informed, with dozens of information on just about anything being shared online you’d think people would be more knowledgeable but that’s not the case. The principal reason why the internet was created is to share information, among'st people from all over the world. So, have you ever used the internet to better understand why things are the way they are, why people act the way they do or simply to change your stance on something? People are quick to jump on social platforms to give their two cents on topics they do not fully comprehend. Engaging in conversations is always encouraged but be careful not to give your opinions on topics that you are not properly versed in. Some topics are sensitive to people and come from a place great hurt, and even trauma. Taking time to educate yourself on things you find confusing should be considered self care, as it is for your benefit. Why are black people so upset, slavery and aparth...

Global village and Cultural imperialism.

Image
Global village is the idea of the world coming and working together all thanks to the internet and technological advancements. The internet has the power of connecting the world and turning it into a village where everything is well established and communication happens seamlessly. Modern technology has provided the tools for the world to be interdependent on each other, be it economically, socially and politically. The term global village created by Marshell Maluhan a canadian media scholar to describe how the world has been shrunk by mordern advancements in technology. He described the populations as intimately involved whether they like it or not, and captive's of what they hear over the grapevine whether it's true or not. Everyday life has become so simple that we no longer have to wait for weeks to send messages, in an instant we are  able to get in touch with people all over the world.  Global village has made the world smaller than it is, businesses can operate outsi...
