Global village and Cultural imperialism.

Global village is the idea of the world coming and working together all thanks to the internet and technological advancements. The internet has the power of connecting the world and turning it into a village where everything is well established and communication happens seamlessly. Modern technology has provided the tools for the world to be interdependent on each other, be it economically, socially and politically.

The term global village created by Marshell Maluhan a canadian media scholar to describe how the world has been shrunk by mordern advancements in technology. He described the populations as intimately involved whether they like it or not, and captive's of what they hear over the grapevine whether it's true or not.
Everyday life has become so simple that we no longer have to wait for weeks to send messages, in an instant we are  able to get in touch with people all over the world.

Global village has made the world smaller than it is, businesses can operate outside of their home countries, without actually owning offices in destination countries. Countries trade with one another, making their currencies stronger. This allows underdeveloped countries to get a chance at development.

However global village is not all that perfect and people use abundance of connectivity they have for the wrong reasons, that can negatively affect the world. Global village has advantages and disadvanges.

Advantages.

  • Goods and services can be sourced from various countries, producing high quality products.
  • Efficient global trade allows people to have a variety of goods and services to choose from.
  • Goods and services are sold at local markets at lower prices because of competiton worldwide.
  • Companies have access to much larger global markets, and can invest in underdeveloped countries.
  • Import and export laws make it easier to sustain optimal global trade of essential natural resources like, Gold, oil etc.
All the above mentioned advantages make the world grow as one, and create a feeling of togetherness all thanks to the connectivity of global village.

Disadvantages.

  • Developed countries can stifle the development of deveoping countries.
  • Economic depression in one country can trigger adverse reactions across the globe.
  • Global competiton puts pressure on small businesses who do not have the resources to compete on a global scale.
  • Increased movement of products and people across the globe facilitates the spread of diseases, thus increasing the risk of outbreaks.
Native languages are being abandoned for languages associated with intelligence like English, and spanish.
The picture above depicts the nations of the world working together towards a common goal of development.

Cultural imperialism.

Is when the culture of a large powerful country or organization, has great influence over a smaller less powerful culture. This happens when powerful nations attempt to alter the beliefs of smaller nations with the use of propaganda and force. They use this methods to push agenda's for their own gain, by making smaller nations believe that their traditions and customs are wrong and God does not approve of it. Less economically prominent countries import examples of culture from wealthier countries chiefly western countries, which have economic means to produce the majority of the worlds media.

Examples of cultural imperialism is the worship of God, African nations before the colonialism had no idea of the exsistence of  God. They would worship thier own god's and ancestors. Westerner's under the guise of missionary work manged to convince africans that there is only one God, and that he is a selfish God. Another  ideology is of monogamous marriges before the arrival of western nations, Africans would have polygamous relationships Which would consist of one husband and round about five wive's. Now African's believe it's immoral to have more than one wife, even making it illegal.

This is evidence on how western countries for Melania used their influence to penetrate and change narratives within societies,  which they deemed conquerable.
